ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
Repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or infected
Root Canal Treatment Procedure Information
Root Canal treatment (RCT) is carried out to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or infected.
Root canal treatment is performed when the pulp which is composed of nerves and blood vessels in the tooth becomes infected or damaged. During root canal treatment, the pulp is removed, and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed.
When should you consider Root Canal Treatment?
- Throbbing pain in the tooth (feels like a heartbeat)
- Severe tooth discomfort that wakes you when sleeping.
- Pain felt when chewing, biting, pressing or tapping on the tooth.
- Lingering tooth sensitivity when exposed to hot or cold food, beverages or sweets.
How can RCT benefit you?
Root canal treatment saves teeth that would otherwise be extracted. A root-canal-treated tooth is more brittle and is at a higher risk of fracture than a vital tooth. It can be protected from fracture by having a custom-made crown. Get in touch with us for a consultation.

How to maintain my dental health after RCT treatment?
You can brush and floss as usual, and have routine check ups every 6 months.
Of course, there’s a slim chance that the root canal treated tooth will get infected again. But if that happens, just go back to your regular dentist and get it checked again.

During the process do I expect pain or discomfort?
You might experience some sensitivity or discomfort during the treatment but normally the dentist will give you some local anesthesia to minimize your discomfort.
